I’m Getting Married!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it’s finally happening. Yours truly, party planner extraordinaire, is taking the blissful dive into matrimony. You are all probably thinking how easy the planning of such an occasion might be for me, considering that is what I do!

Well, friends, if you think that, you would be wrong. Okay, so yes it is easy for me to know who is going to make my cake and who is going to do my flowers. I have seen lots of work done by the amazing women none other than Shannon Pallin from Fiore and Betty Weber who makes the best cakes in town. Catering, of course, will be taken care of by the masterful chefs here at the Fish House (we’re keeping all of the vendor venues local). Sounds like I have a pretty good plan, right?

Well, that isn’t the half of it. From booking the church to picking the wine and music, it can all get very overwhelming. Not saying it can’t be done, but the last thing a bride wants to worry about on her wedding day is whether the DJ shows up on time or making sure the tables and chairs are set up and the décor is in place. No, the only thing I want to remember is to say the words “I do” at the right time and not to kiss the groom till I am told to do so (if you ever met him, you would know how hard that would be). With all that being said, my friends, I did the unthinkable. I am sliding into the passenger seat by hiring a wedding planner!

Yeah, even bus drivers want to be chauffeured around from time to time. Megan Kennedy, owner and operator of Megan K Events, will be steering the ship for me. Why her, you might ask. Well, think location, location, location. Megan happens to have an office located above the Fish House and the Atlas Oyster House. So with my crazy schedule, it is so convenient to have her working in the same building as me, but what’s more, she has fresh eyes on the industry and really nails it on everything I am looking for. Well, I am no bridezilla, but I do have to learn not to take over everything myself, and she reminds me of that. Finally, it is my turn to relax and let someone take care of me the way I take care of my clients. I hope to document all of the experiences to come before I walk down the aisle and share the experience with you from behind the scenes!

Party On!
